MISSION
& OBJECTIVES
The Arte AlémTejo Association aims to manage and archive the legacy of Leone Holzhaus, an artist and chronicler of the Alto Alentejo, and make it available for exhibitions and publications. Additionally, it seeks to be an inspiration for new generations of artists and connect them with the picturesque beauty of the countryside.

The Association invites everyone to discover the rich cultural heritage of the region through the works of Leone Holzhaus.
Located in the former 'Leone Art Lab' studio, the museum and shop bring together history and art in a perfect union. At the Marvão Castle, visitors will find not only a variety of artistic products but also an inspiring environment. We have prepared a unique experience for everyone, with a carefully selected collection.

The MUSEUM & SHOP, located within the walls of Marvão Castle, is an exhibition space where history and art meet.
It was opened on February 12, 2024 with the mission of celebrating Leone's work as one of the most prominent chroniclers of the Alentejo.
Her former studio 'Leone Art Lab’ is now an invitation to feel and explore the Alentejo through her eyes, offering an exhibition of her works and making high-quality replicas and other items available for purchase.

The art library of the association, created in the former Celtex facilities in Santo António das Areias, offers a valuable resource for interns, students and artists in residency.
With a comprehensive collection, this library serves as a center of knowledge and inspiration, fostering the study and appreciation of art.

Arte AlémTejo seeks to inspire other artists with the culture and beauty of Alentejo by offering artistic residencies.
These programs enhance the experience of the artists but also contribute to creating passionate ambassadors who will carry and spread the magical beauty of this land, fostering an ongoing cultural dialogue.
